Pen had her OT evaluation at the U this morning. It included lots of play and lots of questions. We'll hear the results of that evaluation soon, but I at least know that we zeroed in on Penny's auditory and tactile sensory issues. Like, how she is hyper aware of sounds around her, and how much she likes to touch things and people. The therapist said these may become more problematic as she gets further in school (like wanting to touch peers or touch things in the classrooms she isn't allowed to), so we'll need to keep aware of that. We'll wait to hear the results of this evaluation, but my guess is that they'll add a bit of occupational therapy to her current IEP. Next on our checklist is to have her blood work done for the genetic testing. Then, at the end of February she will have a psychological evaluation. That visit will include what we're told is the gold standard in autism testing (ADOS and ADIR). I'm expecting to have an appropriate diagnosis and action plan by the first week of March. We are eager to help this little lady have access to everything she needs to thrive. For now, we're gonna cuddle in the quiet till the big kids get home!
