We had taken Penelope to her evaluation at Early Intervention at the end of May. Her speech has improved tremendously over the past couple of months, not really as a result of the speech therapy but more just because she's doing a lot of developing. I have never really felt worried about her delay, and lately definitely feel like she'll level out with other kids her age soon enough. But we still did the speech therapy a couple of times because it was free and, why not. She had fun with it, and Chris and I learned a few little tricks to do with her. The occupational therapist hadn't been in touch with us since the evaluation (because her husband passed away) until last week. When she came to see us she shared Penelope's evaluation scoring with us. Her scoring came back "normal" or "typical." I'm not surprised, none of her interesting little nuances are problematic. She's just a funny little weirdo who we absolutely adore. I am hoping to find her a fun little preschool class when we move in a couple weeks, and I feel confident that she'll develop just fine from here on out. She's a smart, funny girl.

In other news, I'm realizing she is certainly the baby of the family. So often everyone just gives her what she wants because she's funny or cute, or because we don't want to hear her whine. And man oh man, we're paying for that lately. She's a spoiled little stinker, and we have some retraining to do. We still like her though, I suppose we'll keep her.
